Solomon Alabi Assigned To D-League’s BayHawks

The Toronto Raptors announced earlier today that they have assigned rookie center Solomon Alabi to the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League. According to the released statement Alabi will continue to be included on the Raptors’ roster and will be placed on the team’s inactive list for the time being.

This news comes days after Alabi played his first minutes in an NBA regular season game. When the Toronto Raptors came to Miami to play on the Heat on Saturday, Alabi managed to play just 18 seconds.

Alabi was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the 50th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft and later traded to the Raptors on draft night. Prior to be being drafted Alabi played for the Florida State Seminoles, where he was named to the All-ACC Defensive Team twice. He also holds the Seminoles school record for blocked shots per game, averaging 2.1 per game for his career.

Alabi’s first action with his new team will come on Friday when the BayHawks play the Springfield Armor.
