Joakim Noah Praises Rookie Omer Asik

Omer Asik

The Bulls just committed long term to Joakim Noah, but they have another bigman in the wings ready to contribute, rookie Omer Asik.  The Turkish center is receiving high praise from everyone around the organization, especially the newly resigned Noah.

“He’s doing a lot of things that can really help our team,” Noah said. “His best asset is he wants to learn, he wants to get better. You can’t teach that size. And he can really move. He puts in a lot of extra work. He’s hungry to become a big-time player. As long as he stays humble and hungry and driven, I think it’s going to get real scary when it’s right.”

With Carlos Boozer on the shelf, it will be interesting to see how Noah and Asik play together on the court.  So far Asik seems comfortable playing within himself and blending in with the team.  Off the court, depending on who you talk to he isn’t quite as comfortable.

Asik has refused interviews, allegedly not comfortable with his English just yet.  However, superstar point guard Derrick Rose seems to think that is all an act.

“He knows how to speak English unless he don’t want to talk to you.  Then he’ll act like he doesn’t know.  I hope I didn’t just give him up.”

We have a feeling you did Derrick.
