Patrick Patterson and the Houston Rockets are on their way to China, where they will play two preseason games. Both games will be against the New Jersey Nets. The first will take place on Wednesday, October 13th and the second will be on Saturday, October 16th. For Patterson, this trip will be his first time out of the Country.
The Rockets defeated the Pacers on Saturday 126-92, and after the game a reporter caught up with Patterson in the locker room to ask him about the teams upcoming trip to China. Here are some excerpts from the interview:
On going to China for the first time: “Just seeing the sites. I’m going to see as much stuff as I can. Meet as many people as I can. Eat as much food as I can. Hopefully Yao will point me in the right direction.”
On talking to Yao about what to expect in China: “Yea, he told me ‘Do you like Chinese food?’ I’m like ‘Yea I love Chinese food.’ He like, ‘What’s your favorite?’ I said ‘General Tso, sesame.’ He said ‘Oh, so American Chinese food.’ I said ‘That’s Chinese food.’ He said, ‘Na, you’ll see when you get over there.’”
On seeing the Great Wall of China: “I’m just extremely excited to see [the Great Wall]. I’ve seen it in so many different movies. Finally to have the opportunity to go see it personally. It’s going to be a great moment for myself. I’m going to take as many pictures as I can, video, and just cherish the moment.”
If he has time, maybe Patterson will take a tour of PEAK, the company he signed with back in September to endorse basketball products and be a spokesperson for.
