Training camp for the NBA is starting up soon, so most rookies are in their new home towns. That includes the Lakers’ Devin Ebanks, who was one of the team’s second round picks. Apparently the newest Laker had his first encounter with Kobe Bryant.
We’ve heard of rookies having to carry bags, buy breakfast, and other duties, but this is the first we’ve heard of a player requiring a rookie to buy their merchandise. Jordan Crawford suggested Devin follow Kobe’s advice, and all of us at The Rookie Wall would suggest the same. We wouldn’t want to hear Kobe bad mouthing Devin, like he did Andrew Bynum a few years back. It is worth noting that Tiny gallon wouldn’t have been quite as receptive to the advice.
