According to Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel, Miami Heat’s second-round pick Da’Sean Butler is close to a deal that will allow him to compete for one of the Heat’s two remaining roster spots.

“We’re in discussions with Miami on signing a contract,” agent Richard Katz told the Sun-Sentinel. “Our intentions are to make him part of the Miami Heat. And that’s where he’d like to be, and I think that’s where they’d like to have him.”

Butler, who suffered a torn ACL in the NCAA Tournament Final Four, will be kept out of training camp, which begins September 28th.

Butler was in attendance at the 2010 NBA Rookie Photo Shoot but was wearing a Miami Heat jersey with no number.
