Hassan Whiteside

Hassan Whiteside came into the season a relative unknown at Marshall University in West Virginia.  Midway through the season he was being considered a top five pick in the 2011 draft.  By the end of the year he was a lottery pick in the 2010 draft.  Whiteside may slip a little, but ultimately we see him going in the lottery.

Strengths: The best shot blocker in college basketball this year due to his long arms and speed helping on the weakside.  One of only two players to record multiple triple-doubles on the season.  Has the ability to face up and score from the perimeter, despite not having a chance to show it at Marshall.  Has unlimited potential that some team will fall in love with.

Weaknesses: Lacks the lower body strength to keep players off the block, and to get deep position.  Once he gets the ball there is a good chance he’s putting up a shot.  He struggles to pass the ball out of double teams, leading to low assists and high turnovers.  Needs to get a better understanding of the game, which can come with time on the court.
