Coming into his sophomore season Ed Davis was considered by many to be a contender for the number one overall pick. After his sophomore season, Davis is still a lottery pick, but not a true contender for the top five, let alone number one overall. One concern for Davis is his wrist injury, but the injury isn’t serious and likely won’t effect his draft stock.
Strengths: Davis possesses good height and long arms allowing him to block a lot of shots. He comes from an NBA family and has a good understanding of the game. Has a great work ethic, working hard to improve his game. Still has a lot of potential with only one and a half seasons at UNC. Great feel for where rebounds will come down and has the athletic ability to haul in anything near him. Soft hands and good understanding of post positioning.
Weaknesses: Is not a vocal leader, needs to get more confidence in his game and better at motivating his teammates. Frame needs to add a substantial amount of weight to play in the post in the NBA. Post moves are still raw, but hopefully they can come with time. Needs to develop more of a face up game and work on putting the ball on the floor.
