Cole Aldrich

Aldrich is a bit of an odd case as a junior center, in a class full of freshman and sophomores.  In his role with Kansas he was under used, as the Jayhawks relied on the play of Xavier Henry and Sherron Collins this season.  As such, it’s hard to gauge where Aldrich will end up, but he’s a certain lottery pick.

Strengths: He doesn’t come off as a great athlete on film, but he’s fluid in all his movements and possesses above average athleticism.  He has great footwork, and scores with his back to the basket with a relatively complex back to the basket game.   He finishes well through contact and passes well out of the double team.

Weaknesses: His size is great for a college player, but to be a true center at the next level he’ll need to add strength to his frame.  May need to rework his mechanics to get a more consistent jumper.  His lateral movement isn’t on par with the other prospects in the draft, despite his ability to get up and down the floor.  On a Kansas team that lost to Northern Iowa some have questioned his leadership.
